Moving from a spreadsheet

Keep your clients in Excel or Google Sheets? Bring the list over, free, and check it before and after it’s saved.

How it works

In WagTab, open Settings, then Bring your data, and pick “Something else”.

  1. Save your list as CSV or Excel

An .xlsx or .csv file. From Google Sheets, use File, then Download. One row per client or one row per dog both work.

  2. Match each column once

Tell WagTab what each column holds, like “Cell” to phone. A second or third dog on the same row works too. It remembers your choices for next time.

  3. Check it before it’s saved

You see how many clients, pets and visits it found, any rows it couldn’t read, and which clients look like the same person twice.

  4. Check it again after

WagTab puts your spreadsheet beside what it saved, line by line. Each difference is said in plain words, with a tap to see which ones.

What your columns can hold

Clients
Names, phones, email, address, emergency contact, notes, an alert and how they found you.
Pets
Name, breed, weight, size, birthday, grooming and medical notes, vet, behavior flags and a date for each vaccine.
Visits
Date, time, services, price, groomer and notes. Past visits fill in each dog’s history; booked ones go on the calendar.
Anything else
Keep it as imported notes, or leave the column out.

Your price list

Download the blank menu sheet from the same screen and fill in one row per service, add-on, package or product, with a row per size when prices differ. If your spreadsheet has visits but no menu, WagTab can make one from your history for you to check.

Messages wait until you say so

Booked visits from your spreadsheet are held quiet: no confirmation or reminder emails go out for them. Look over the calendar, then tap “Looks right, turn on messages for these”.

Balances, photos and staff don’t come over. If your sheet has gift-card, package or deposit balances, the check lists them by client to type in. The newest import can be undone for 30 days.

Send us your columns

Not sure how your spreadsheet will come in? Email us the column names, no client details, and we’ll tell you.
